Arts Administration

This page offers an inside look at my work in arts administration, where I blend creativity with strategic planning to support and promote the craft community. From curating engaging exhibitions to designing promotional materials, coordinating special events, and managing retail sales, I am dedicated to showcasing the value of handmade craft in every aspect of my work. This section offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes efforts that help bring craft to life, connect with audiences, and support artists. Whether it’s through thoughtful design, meaningful interactions, or strategic planning, my goal is to foster a deeper appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship that shape our world.

Exhibition Director

Curating Craft, Inspiring Connection

As Exhibition Director at Peters Valley School of Craft, I curated dynamic showcases that honored both craftsmanship and creativity. With a keen eye for emerging trends and a deep appreciation for artisanal techniques, I collaborated closely with artists to design engaging, immersive experiences for visitors.

In addition to overseeing the development of exhibition programs, I had the privilege of designing exhibition signage, brochures, and catalogs. This creative process allowed me to fully immerse myself in the artistic vision behind each show while building meaningful connections with the talented artists who formed that vibrant craft community.

In my current role as Program Coordinator for the Handweavers Guild of America, I continue to build on this experience by contributing to exhibition planning while supporting a wide range of programs that celebrate and advance the field of handweaving.

Special Events

Bringing Craft to the Community

Coordinating special events that expand the reach of craft is a central passion in my arts administration career. I believe in the power of these moments to spark lasting connections between individuals and the world of craft—one conversation, one experience, can change a life forever.

From inviting artists to participate and designing interactive outreach spaces, to engaging directly with visitors, every detail plays a role in creating memorable and impactful events. These moments are where creativity and community come together to inspire and transform.

Design

Graphics & Marketing

In addition to curating and coordinating, I also designed promotional materials that helped bring exhibitions and events to life. From email banners and social media posts to paid advertisements, brochures, and postcards, I crafted visually compelling content that resonated with our audience and amplified the gallery’s presence. This design work allowed me to blend my love for creativity with my commitment to elevating the gallery’s story, ensuring every exhibition and special event reached the widest audience possible in a way that was both impactful and engaging.

Retail Sales

Showcasing the Value of Handmade

In addition to overseeing exhibitions, I was actively involved in the retail gallery, engaging directly with potential buyers and sharing the story behind each handmade piece. It was essential to me that customers understood the craftsmanship, processes, and care instructions that made these items so special—especially considering they often came at a higher price point than mass-produced goods. This knowledge empowered them to make confident, meaningful purchases. On the administrative side, I analyzed sales data to evaluate which items and strategies were resonating with our audience. This insight informed new promotions, displays, and improvements, ensuring our retail space remained dynamic and successful in every aspect.
